The word color is a bit
misleading as the ideal
diamond has a "lack" in
color (yellowness). The
more colorless a diamond
is, the more rare and
valuable it becomes. A
letter grade is given to
a diamond to describe
the subtle tones of
color in a stone. D is
perfectly colorless, the
most rare and expensive
color.
As you go from D to Z on
the normal color scale,
it indicates increasing
levels of yellow. Fancy
colors such as pink,
red, blue and green are
discovered each year,
but they are very rare
and incredibly
expensive. Such fancy
colors do not follow the
normal color/pricing
scales and are
categorized separately.
The most widely accepted
color grade scale, as
defined by the
Gemological Institute of
America (GIA), is
outlined below. Angel
Diamond offers no
diamond below a color
grade of J.
D, E, F =
Colorless diamonds of
the highest color grade,
D being the most rare.
These are superb
diamonds and are
extremely expensive.
G, H, I, J =
Nearly colorless
diamonds with noticeable
color when compared to
higher grade diamonds.
These are high quality
and are an excellent
value.
K, L, M = Faint
yellow diamonds. Angel
Diamond does not offer
these diamonds.
N, O, P, Q, R =
Very light yellow
diamonds. Angel Diamond
does not offer these
diamonds.
S, T, U, V, W, X, Y,
Z = Light yellow
diamonds. Angel Diamond
does not offer these
diamonds.
